Cocktails

Post: # 111768Post Lady Willow »

What are your favourite cocktails? And what's the main ingredient.

I'm looking for inspiration .. . I'm putting my hot tub back up soon and am determined to spend some time in there sipping cocktails ! I want to get a few bottles of spirits that are versitile and can be the basis of a few different ones.

My own faves are ...

Classic Champagne cocktail
Long island iced tea
Bloody Mary
Mojito
Margarita

But I'm looking to experiment and broaden my cocktail horizons!

White russian - I have seen many 'recipes' I use Tia maria, vodka and milk... though it has been a while :drunken:

If yer gonna do it, gotta do it with tongue firmly in cheek.....that´s why a Pina colada with all the trimmings (pref in a coconut shell) gets my vote. Pineapple, coconut , Rum and condensed milk? Reminds me of Old Night in Tobago many moons ago!

Mai Thai - Had this served in hollowed out pineapples and the obligatory paper brollies in Pattaya Beach, Thailand many moons ago ( I know, I know - had barely heard of AIDS let alone air miles or global warming back then - I was still wearing power suits and blue eye shadow!)

There are a lot of different recipes but there's always a lot of rum in it, sometimes brandy or scotch as well plus fruit juices and ice.

A classic martini for me lots of gin, a whiff of dry vermouth fumes and a dash of bitters (orange or angostura).

When I'm feeling less civilised I like an old fashioned shandy made from stout and ginger beer.

screaming orgasm. no, seriously. I have to be at least a little drunk to order this but it's amazingly fabulous.

1 Shot Vodka, 1 Shot Amaretto, 1 Shot Kahlua 1 Shot Amarula Cream 1 Shot Cream 1 Shot Milk

I also really like a brown cow. it's a long cocktail that's baileys, kahlua, chocolate liquor, tia maria topped up to the top of the glass with FC milk, topped with cream and choccy sprinkles.

I love meitais and I also love my hubby's creation which has no name.
ice cream, malibu, banana milkshake.

or a whiskey mac which is ginger wine and whiskey.

I really like creamy and sweet cocktails. none of that sex on the beach for me, far too astringent!
oh how I love my tea, tea in the afternoon. I can't do without it, and I think I'll have another cup very

I rather like quick f**ks!!!

Yes, really... I think it's midori (melon liqueur) and baileys, though you'll have to forgive me for not remembering too well...

If not, squashed frogs...

half a glass of midori, with avocaat floating on the top, then drop some grenadine slowly into it so it looks like entrails.

Ooor one we used to do at work, which isn't quite as strong (I'd make it in a pint glass with plenty of ice if I were you!)

50ml malibu (coconut rum)
50ml white rum
fill the rest of the glass half with ginger ale, half with pineapple juice... yum!

Can I come round?
