Hey Gang!

Well, we've been back for three weeks, but it feels a hell of a lot longer!

I have regained the back yard after a determined attack by a couple of Choko vines, who were about to get togehter and run up the chokotopian flag bly the time we got home. All the veggies are doing well and the process of so, pot on, plant out continues. I just bought in a load of open pollinated seeds for the next year or two.

Three of the new chooks are laying well, even in the cold weather which is great. The weather has been cold and wet (cold for hear at least! ).

I have applied for a couple of jobs but no breakthroughs yet. In the meantime we are saving up setting things up to be more SSish!

Last monday at the permaculture west meedting I met a bloke who is a refrigeration mechanic, he is going to help me set up a 12 volt fridge. We bought an el-cheapo fridge today that Mrs Wombat likes the look of and should convert OK. Will keep you informed.

We have also decided to shelve our current wind generator and buy a smaller, lighter (6 kg vs 70kg) but more powerful unit, and bugger the council! With the Aussie dollar being almost on a parity with the USD, there are some good deals to be had. I also bought some wire today to put in another high efficiency 12v light, in the hall near the linen closet, hopefully tomorrow.

My daughter and SIL are set to move out next weekend, which is when he starts the position in Newcastle. Hopefully accomodation will be arranged in time and we can get them moved the 2.5 hours or so north. This is very exciting for both couples - they get to go out on their own and we get our lives back!

We've also been talking a lot about how we will get to things and get things done when the car goes. It will be a big adjustment, but a satisfying one.

So, big changes at the moment and more to come soon. Love to everyone over there from Mrs Wombat and myself!
