Did they really sing.......

Post: # 106343Post Milims »

Inspired by ocailleagh.......It seems that I'm not the only one who thought that Anastacia was singing about a no good chucklebrother!
My friends daughter was convinced she sang about a car at the end of a plane - not calm at the end of the day, and my daughter sang "paint my shoes" for "paid my dues!"
Oh and I just remembered the puzzled look on my sons friends face when he thought "I love Paris every morning" was "I eat carrots every monring"
So what lyrics have you all misheard? They don't have to be Anastacias - although she does seem to be the mistress of misheard!
Let us be lovely
And let us be kind
Let us be silly and free
It won't make us famous
It won't make us rich
But damn it how happy we'll be!

The Lightning Seeds did a song called Sugar Coated icebergs and I caught my friend singing 'sugar coated iced potatoes' when the line was 'sugar coated iceberg tastes so...'

I'll have to wait until my husband comes home as I'm sure he'll remember loads of lyrics that I've misheard! He's always correcting me...

The real line is "you no good takin' brother"
But the Chuckle brothers are characters in a really aweful kids TV program - so I guess it would be quite an insult to call someone a no good Chuckle brother!

I once heard a wee boy of about 3 belting out that Elton John song at the top of his voice...'Are you READEEEEEEE? Are you ready for love, LIKKLE MAN'.....bless him, I think it sounds better than the original.

My SIL (pure Glaswegian) always thought that 'Away In A Manger' was called 'A Wean In A Manger'.....(Wean (pronounced Wayne) is a slang term for a child, in case anyone is totally lost...)
I took my dog to play frisbee. She was useless. I think I need a flatter dog.

As a child I wondered about Mrs Murphy as in "Surely Good Mrs Murphy shall follow me all the days of my life" (the 23rd Psalm - goodness and mercy).

And I wondered about Queen’s ‘Beelzebub has a devil for a sideboard’

Misheard lyrics are often called 'mondegreens', after a old Scots song about a rascal who shot 'Lord Randall and Lady Mondegreen' (laid him on the green)

Found this link to articles by Jon Carroll who collects them. http://www.sfgate.com/columnists/carrol ... eens.shtml

I think I have posted this on 'ish before

From Seal's 'kiss from a rose'

"to me your like a borne addiction, that I can't deny" became, "to me your like a p0rno dictionary, I can't deny".... which still makes more sense to me.

Red Hot Chili Peppers - Parallel Universe

Real lyrics : "Kill the pressure, it's raining on... Salted cheeks"

I always wondered why he was singing about salty cheese... though the Chili's lyrics are often abstract anyway!

Only after the last river has been poisoned,
Only after the last fish has been caught,

From 'back for good' by Take That
"got a picture of you beside me, got your lipstick Mark, still on my coffee cup"

From 'how deep is your love" Bee Gees
"From the bottom of my ferrets hole" should be "from the bottom of my very soul"

From 'Alfie' by the devine comedy
"just like glasses comfrey on the NHS" for years I thought that glasses of comfrey was a medical treatment

you got the love by source, in my head even though I know it's not right their line "Master, Make me new" becomes "masturbate me new".
"Occasionally
I call up Master make me new
You got the love
I need to see me through "

it sort of makes sense...

For the Pigeon Detectives - Take Her Back, my sister and I used to run around (at work...) singing "tiggle her!" (ie. tickle her)... but I think we knew what the words were really... :toothy4:
"Only after the last tree has been cut down,
Only after the last river has been poisoned,
Only after the last fish has been caught,
Only then will you realise that money cannot be eaten"
