Where is the rain?

Post: # 104760Post Annpan »

Has anyone seen our rain about recently?

I seem to have misplaced it :? Hasn't rained here for 3 or so weeks (perhaps longer actually)

I am getting somewhat bothered by having to trapse up and down the garden with the watering can... and the pond I put in 3 weeks ago is only half full, cause I ain't filling it with blasted tap water

If you do see any rain can you send it to the Lanark area in Scotland... but only for a few hours, then it can go elsewhere again... I am enjoying the sun :flower:

I realise of course that it will piss down for the next 3 months now that I have posted this

Just heard the weather forecast.. apparently we've not had much in the way of wet weather over the last 3 weeks.... perhaps they missed our storm 2 weeks ago....

Holey Moley...

If that is what it looks like when it is dry, perhaps you should start building an arc for when it 'really' rains.

I am just looking for sustained heavy drizzle, for about 4 hours (preferably overnight)

Me too! Had hardly any all May, and half of April; the house is nice and dry at the moment - that's good; but the garden is also dry and not so nice... :?

It is the same just over the border in west lothian I had to water the garden and tunnel yesterday with the neighbors hose, I really need my own hose and ideally a rainwater storage system of some sort, I am lucky the garden is lower than the house so gravity would get the water to even the far back corner.

some drizzle on sunday, maybe http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/5day.shtml?id=1853

Thanks ocailleagh

Rained over night and drizzled all morning... now the clouds are just breaking up and the sun is coming out.

Next time if it could just be a little bit heavier... at least enough to fill the water butts

Thanks God of 'ish

Your rain was here only Friday. We had three inches in about 8 hours. The Vendée isn't designed for that. Or, to be precise, the roof of one of gites wasn't because some tiles came loose and the water it poureth through. Which was bad because we had guests arriving Saturday.

Someone had to climb up, in the rain, and fix it but it wasn't me. My dear wife is always going on about how she is lighter, more nimble than me and how I "always" break tiles when I get on the roofs, so I got a pointly stick and forced her up the ladder. This may sound cruel, but it would be better if anyone were to fall and break something it be her it because her bones would knit more quickly, what with her being so young and all. Not that her constant jibing about my advanced age and general infirmity are getting to me or anything.

Anyway, your rain had an agreeable break here, picked up some very reasonably priced muscadet, some camembert and a few tins of pâté and was last seen heading in a sort of generally North Easterly direction.

Does this help at all?

we had an inch of rain last night. conveniently timed the pour down as i was coming out of work at 10pm armed only with a cardigan....managed to stay rainy until 5 minutes after i got into work this morning......very sunny extremely hot all day until about an hour after i finished my shift. GAH! some of my plants were grateful but some of them were literally battered by the heaviness of the rain.

apparently thunderstorms are due in the wee hours of this morning - not really looking forward to it, i like thunderstorms but the particular area where we live is prone to flooding. :?

i will certainly try to send it towards some of the drier areas for the rest of you!

I've just looked at my rain gauge and it looks like nearly 30mm since late last night! It was torrential when I went to bed.

What a waste of water cos my butts were already full!!! Still at least it keeps the stream flowing and makes my trees and shrubs happy because in some parts of the garden there's barely a foot of soil over the bedrock and yet trees manage to grow in it somehow!
