Re: The Great Mosquito War 2012

Make your own repellant. Get hold of all the things mozzies hate, basil, lemon grass, citronella, pelargonium leaves, also cloves blend and add vegetable oil. Cook in a bain marie over a very low heat for an hour or pop the mix in a hot greenhouse for a day. Strain and you have a very effective repe...

I don't like the taste which is a shame because it's our main weed at this time of year, our chickens love it though, nothing gets wasted!

Re: Juicing Romaine letuce, broccol;i, purslane, parsley, ba

No need to point that out, I have a very healthy diet, more or less 80% of what I eat is what I grow and is in season, I bake my own bread, make my own pasta, cheese and yoghurt, I just don't see the point in juicing everything!

Just out of interest do you have an unlimited supply of water? Do you have enough water during the summer months? just asking because ...

My feed is a strong mix of molasses, comfrey tea and liquid aloe vera with banana skins and left over tea, I feed flowering veg weekly and everything in po...

Re: Swiss Chard

Crikey Durgan we only have 15 plants and we sell organic veg boxes! How many plants do you have in your 25 foot row? It's staple in our garden which is so easy to grow. Cooking, we use it like spinach. The oxalic acid in the plant gives it a chalky taste but just pop in a small amount of bicarb in t...
