I don't.....................hmmm, but if I feed e'm on gunpowder first they will explode on impact! that should slow the cycle down a bit  It would slow the cycle, but it might also remove the last shred of goodwill your neighbours still feel towards you! Anyway, I always think if a slug m...

I stick them in a tub with secure lid (Rachel's yoghurt tubs are fine...), or a screw top jar before they go in the bin. Can't bring myself to kill them outright, so I just lock them up and leave them to die. Now what does that say about me, I wonder... :?

Mmh, maybe... I think I'm just too oldfashioned, foodwise, to start anything that's not the colour I'm used to! Green cauliflowers for example, and yellow tomatoes... I'll give it a try, though. You are right, it looks wrong when it's all mushy, but if it retains shape and colour, I can imagine it m...

I'd rather stick with neither of them...

But don't you find it very satisfactory to catch a big beastie like that and dispose of it?

We seem to have a massive influx of Daddy longlegs this year. Doesn't bode well for the leatherjacket count next year... They can be very distructive, too.

The problem (even with the UK) is that if you want to live in a rural area, you can't get anywhere without a car... Yes, I could probably do more trips by bike, but even that's a bit difficult, in bad weather (some days every winter I can't even get away from here by car), or because of distance and...

Maybe it's just a fancy name for the red onions that seem to be in fashion just now? It really annoys me, reading recipes (which I don't do a lot, but there's usually one or two in the Sunday Herald), and they all seem to need red onions, even if it would make the resulting food look revolting... Li...

Hi Sharlr Your balcony sounds huuuge! Great, though. One of my future flats had two balconies; so I had one "veggie" balcony and one "flower and herb" one. (Why can I edit this one? Has some site wizzard or other realised that I've been writing rubbish - of course it wasn't a fut...

Hi Tricky and welcome! You are making me go  ... You've got all that what I am always talking about! Bees and hens, and a lot more veg than I have managed to grow in my garden. (Mind you, being on my own I wouldn't fancy 15 lb of courgette a week! But I'll get some yet.) Anyway, whereabouts ar...

Some good news myself and dave have been asked to talk at an organic festival up north. Some bloke from the bbc is sorting it out and it should be full of media people. Will keep you all posted. Where and when - just so we can stick it in our diaries? If it's far enough north, maybe we from up here...

I now tether my goats in the back garden for up to two hours at a time - saves me getting the electric fence back up every time they are in there, and I can get on with my gardening without being in danger of getting "shocked" every time I climb over the fence. Can't see any negative effec...

I think I would have a look before I picked any... If you leave it too long, you might end up with popcorn!

Greenbean, how are your plants doing?

I remember when I was in France we fed them to the cow in the end... They were huge, and it looked rather funny the way she chomped a big bite out of them! Anyway, I know you can stuff the flowers, too - they taste really nice. I've only managed to do that once, usually there are too many tiny beast...
