Also genius... We have so many carrier bags, that could be the making of some funky flip flops now that summer's coming!

I knew this was the right place to ask

Are these "aeriated" taps the same as we have on almost any tap on the continent? I don't think I've used a sink (except for in kitchens or on the bath) that doesn't come out with more air bubbles than water out here, and it does feel lovely on the skin... sort of tickly! Though if you're ...

I've just giggled myself silly imagining what my flatmate will think if (when!) I start using wee-wipes - He's of the terribly-middle-class private schooled variety, loves rugby, and tells me off for using slang (intit!). He thinks of me as a hippie and tries to pretend I'm like him. Anyway, I plan ...

I love my dishwasher... though I'd rather have an oven and make some nut-roasts! (living in a small flat, I get a small sink, tiny draining board, two hobs, a dishwasher and a microwave, that's it!) I've a sort of half-sized job (it's about 1'6"x2') which can take about a meal-for-2-people's am...

Welcome from a fellow newbie!

Judge Dredd, eh? I'm assuming you mean the film, which i have never seen, but I have been collecting the comics for years (which, for a 20 y. o. is pretty good going!)

MKG: I'll have a look into balancing it all out, and we'll see if I can get it to work. hamster: I've just started off a mix with apple, kiwi, vodka, triple sec and some sugar syrup based on recipes and tips from that brilliant website you posted up... should all go well, providing my flatmate doesn...

Schnapps is a good idea too! Can you run me through the basics - is it just a case of sticking crushed fruit in vodka and leaving it until it tastes good? With the wine making, I'm thinking a big plastic bottle, squeezed and under-filled (with a fruit-syrup-yeast mix) so that the CO2 doesn't make it...

Urban home-made wine? Ask the experts time....

Another "just-wondering" type question... I suspect it's not possible, but it's worth a try! Is it possible to make some form of home-made wine, bearing in mind it needs to be done in 2 months or less (I'm renting), I can't get hold of home-made wine-making stuff that isn't available from ...

Ideas needed... (crocheting)

Hi guys, I've been doing loads of knitting since Yule, now I've decided I'm going to make myself some crochet slippers... Got the crocheting the main part down reasonably well, but there's a bit I need some inspiration on: What to make the sole from? I'm living in Paris, so I can only really get hol...

Bonjour from a newbie

Thought I'd better introduce myself a bit  I'm a British student living in Paris for the academic year. Having only until June and just a (north-facing) balcony, I'm not really able to grow my own stuff (though if anyone has any ideas I can try, let me know!), but I'm self-sufficient-ish wh...
