Re: A couple of questions about dandelions
dandelion wine - remove as much green as you can from the flowers, only use the flower heads - a bit of green won't matter, but try to minimize it as much as possible.

Re: Opening tins
not the basics tins, but a basics (or just cheap quality, poorly made) tin oppener usually last me about a week before breaking. Save up and pay more for an expensive one that's rugged and well made, and will last for more than 10 uses (or use a good old multi use pen knife)

Re: How do I make GOOD wine?
just a quick question - what kind of yeast are you using? any yeast will work, but there are specific yeast for specific things, so cider, champagne, red wine, white wine, ale, bread, etc, etc. all have yeasts that work for that specific application. you wouldn't use champagne yeast to make bread, s...

Re: Beech Leaf Noyau
cool thanks - I'll see what I can get on the way home.
[edit to add] - found the copper beech, but thought that the taste of the leaves was too bitter, so went with another tree just down the road. picked a quarter carrier bag full, and they're now under gin in a jar in the cupboard.

Re: How do I make sweet fizzy cider?
you could stop the fermentation early, so it's still sweet, and then force carbonate, either in pressure vessel with CO2 gas (sparklet) or by the bottle in a soda stream type way. otherwise, once fermentation is finished, bottle into either pop bottles that have had pressure before or screw top wine...

Beech Leaf Noyau
Hi there, I've just joined the forum. I have the Booze for Free book, which has a recipe for beech leaf noyau - I'm struggling to identify beech trees. I've just planted a beech hedge in my front garden however I don't want to take the leaves off these trees as they're small and I don't want to risk...
