I've just bought some baby reins for Saffie for when she starts walking outside....don't want any grazes just yet, we have many years ahead full of those lol. Found some lovely leather ones (don't like the plastic ones ugh) which arrived today.....however I remember the leather ones my sis had when we were little were lined with felty fleecey stuff. Do you think I could do this to these ones?? If so how would you attempt it?????

Being that leather is incredibly difficult to sew I would suggest some kind of glue... I wonder if you can by a self adhesive fleecey thing from a craft store?
Is it possible that your sisters were some kind of skin? with the fluffy bit on the inside?

Yea they were leather with fluffy on the inside it just makes them more comfy when wearing with little dresses etc especially as I am gonna use them to stop her hitting the deck

Falls and grazes are all part of growing up though. She'll learn to walk slower and keep her balance.

Yes they are all part of growing up BUT there are occasions where I would rather she had a little support ie walking out of our road where it's unmade. I have no intention of stopping her fall I just don't want her hitting the deck every time, she's the type of kiddo that will just keep going til she is black and blue. She fell the other day hitting the coffee table with her head then got up and did it again....nothing holds her back or slows her down!! They are only for use outside anyway in the garden/house etc she can crack on with it. I've always used them but used them with care so as not to hold a child back and after 14 years as a nanny I haven't found they have held any of the kiddos back.

sorry cant help...ive never used reins on mine...bought them for my son once and he dangled of them

my two boys are generally black and blue all the times from tumbling over and throwing themselves backwards

I've never used them, seem much too much like leashes used on dogs for my liking!

It IS possible to sew through leather but you need a specialist needle and a dolly/thimble to push the needle through the leather & fleece (otherwise you risk embedding the end into your finger!)

You lot are impossible lol you all have your own opinions which is great don't get me wrong I am very much in favor of us all having our own opinions, but I am gonna use these just til she's stable enough for where we live....promise I won't call her to heel like Oscar our boxer rofl

Now if I get one of these I can take the rein off fast if I see any of you lot coming down the road lol I think I'd get much more use out of this as I am only gonna use the rein for a short while BUT Saffie would use a little bag for much longer she can carry all her little toys in it.

personally id not attempt anything with leather cos i would not be confident,but you could glue fleece to the inside, THEN trim it usng a craft knife.
i only used reins with soph for a day because she hated them and would sit down on the floor!

i applogise for the chronic typing, yet again i am on a DS console rather than the pc.

hun save your money thats the one my son dangled of lol...we hhave a fleecy teddy bear bag version...they arnt the best imo

he used to pull his feet of the ground and literally would dangle in mid air...i gave up using it after a couple of attempts and just educated him on road saftey etc and the green cross code and for a three year old im very proud to say hes brilliant...he wont cross a road without using a safe crossing etc and even tells adults of if they cross without waiting for the green man....

That's what my youngest used to do! he'd jump and lift his feet up to 'fly' everywhere used to take twice as long then!, I ended up using a wrist strap after a while as he still needed something, when he had a strop he used to drag his feet and walk behind us so I used to feel like a press gang. Thankfully he's five now and walks beautifully, but those first independant walks can be 'challenging'!
