of spuds and garlic

Post: # 100934Post plot54 »

Hi All,

this is my first post, so please help out a newbie.

Anyway, i have already planted out some 2nd early spuds and a load of
garlic in pots and they are all doing well. They garlic are not that big at the moment, and the spuds have just sprouted through. Since planting them out i have become the proud owner of a new allotment, HOORAY  I was wondering if it is possible to re-plant / transfer the spuds and garlic i already have growing to my new allotment without killing them off?

I hope so as i want to increase the size and yield i will get from these veg.

Thanks in advance,

iain

I ahve managed to transplant lots of unconventional stuff last year when the same happened to me- I transplanted beetroot and carrot. Personally I think the garlic may well survive it but I ahve no idea about the spuds.

Hi Iain

WELCOME TO SSish

I´m not an expert by any means, but my instinct says no. I would just plant more spuds on your lottie (congratulations by the way), I think it is probably too late for garlic now, but how´s about some onions?

Hello, and welcome to Ish!

Can you leave them where they are? If so, I'd be inclined to do that and grow other things on the allotment (congrats on getting one!!) You could even grow MORE tatties if you fancy it

I guess you could try moving a couple of the tattie plants and see what happens?

Hi, I have transplanted potato plants and so long as you keep them moist they transplanted well.

welcome :flower:

I would probably move the garlic and leave the spuds alone.. unless space was an issue at home or something...
