This time last year I was out walking on Ilkley Moor and spotted a few clumps of St Georges mushroom. Growing nearby was a large Giant Puffball. Went to same place this year and nothing at all. It just shows how much cooler its been this spring.

I haven't found any mushies either up here godfreyrob. I'm in Leeds. The only thing that was plentiful (at least it was a week and half ago) was jelly ears and yesterday I was very surprised to see a huge common inkcap growing in a hedgerow. I'm really looking forward to munching it with breakfast tomorrow. I cooked it yesterday as it had started deliquiescing and put in a tub in the fridge. (Yes I know it's toxic when consumed with alcohol but I don't drink alcohol so I can eat as many of them as I like. )

It is noticeable here in France that the fungi are a bit behind this year.

I had assumed that the wet weather would be good for them but apparently not. They obviously need the warmth to get them going.

Not seen a single St. Georges here, the only decent edibles so far have been Morels & Jews Ear.

I found some! I found some! I found some! Sorry about the extreme level of excitedness. They're my first ever find so I'm so so pleased! They got eaten by the lawn mower monster but I don't care! :flower:
