There's a free pattern on here and directions, if you can't face the mooncup idea.
I'm going to make some for when my daughter starts her period

The mooncup is fantastic. I've been truly amazed at how comfortable, safe it is and no mishaps.
Bit expensive but lasts forever.

Confirmed mooncup user here! Would never go back to anything else!!
Why is it TMI Thurston? Women don't have places to share this kind of information. i didn't find out about the mooncup until i was about 24. I wish i'd found it 10 years earlier!! Menstruation is a taboo subject, something that women are mande to feel dirty and embarrassed about.
I'm glad that people feel comfortable enough on this forum to discuss it and the alternatives.

No Problem! I just wanted to make a point that its not a TMI topic, just something that's not discussed in open company a lot...

Returning to the Mooncup. I'm in an extreeemly hard water area and after boiling my Mooncup it has a very fine powdery layer of what I can only guess is limescale on in. Is this going to harm it or me?
Thanks

Don't think so but you could try putting a tsp of vinegar in your water next time - see if that shifts it. If you're worried email mooncup - hopefully they'll know!

or you could put a piece of marble, flint or a small ball of wire (like those metal pot scourers) in the pan with your cup.
they've started selling mooncups in a local branch of Boots here. saw them when I went to get my cotton tampons.

I don't boil mine that often. Every few months, i drop it into a jug of hot water and milton (baby sterilising liquid for those not familiar with the brand), and before and after use i rinse it and spray it with antibacterial s*x toy cleaner. I figure that the spray is suitable for s*x toys made of silicone going the same place as the mooncup!

i too love my mooncup, but since having a aby and even after going up to the bigger size i find that i get leaks.....need to do some pelvic floor exercises!!
so i use washable pads too, but fraid i wasnt ish enough to make them, i bought them through lollipop as i am an advisor and get them cheaper!! but they are great...much more comfy than disposable ones.
