spearmint one sounds good - but do I have to use all those ingredients? Maybe I could just slurp and sloosh - and swallow - the vodka!!!

Oooh....one thing though.

Peppermint oil can cause cavities...even though it makes you minty fresh. I think Clara knows a bit more because she knows lots about essential oils, but watch the peppermint oil ratio!

You realise it doesn't have to be oil but just a flavouring from the supermarket aisle (usually found with the flavourings and colourings for cakes etc.) Or infuse a peppermint or spearmint leaf.

You can also use the 3% peroxide as a mouth wash and teeth whitener.

Brilliant! Thank you, I'm going to make the citrus one this afternoon. I can't stand the strong taste of mint - though I like a sprig in the new potatoes - and have been using the strawberry flavoured kiddie toothpastes for years (I'm 48 )

I tried the bicarb, salt, glycerine and peppermint oil one and it's okay. It gets my teeth clean, but it tastes really salty which I don't like so much. Might try another recipe next.
