I am looking to change my isp I am with aol but they are having connection issues due to a dodgy update since car phonw warehouse merger
question 1 - any recomendations for a new isp
question 2 - what do I do about my email account - I have signed up to loads of websites - freecycle, forums, my blog, other blogs etc but if I chnge isp my email address would be defunct and I wouldn't be able to access the info
any ideas - in simple language as I am not very pooter literate

step one, get yourself a free Googlemail account - (free from Google) - you can access that from any computer in the world via any isp, using a browser
- then go to each site you've signed up with, and change your account details to your new Googlemail account - then you won't miss any emails!
Step two, sign up with someone like Tiscali
Honestly, THAT simple! - you'll be so glad you left AOL.........widely known as AO HELL! (for extremely good reasons)

I like Martin's advice but not tried Tiscali.
Can I suggest plusnet? I've been with them for about six months and no trouble at all. More to the point a VERY particular (ie will complain if any little thing is wrong) friend likes them. £10 a month for 1GB download suits me for browsing for hours a day, and higher priced service if you want to download lots of stuff. No contract: they don't penalise you for moving!
But make sure you get a non-ISP specific email address first to make such ISP moves easy as Martin says.

Having read all comments, I am with orange/freeserve £17.99 per month, slow service & get disconnected. Rubbish service!!
I think I shall move!

Probably cos Orange is French and we have to pay nearly €30 a month for the privilege.

I am having a terrible time with Plusnet right now. I had to upgrade my account but they said they would throw in a free wireless router. Its been 3 weeks, a dozen complaints and they still haven't sent the router. Its a bait and switch scam or something. And their 5MB link is actually about 2.5 in my area. All of this for £19.99?
