I'm not a great fan of non native conifers so that rules everything out but scots pine for me  but I came across this wee stunted thing yesterday and they've just gone up a notch in my estimation :cooldude:

It's growing on the end of the old Raasay Iron ore pier out of a tiny crack between two timbers, it's got the sea below it and on three sides, it was calm yesterday but today it was like this

after working with trees all my life, they still amaze me, sometimes they can be so fickle then they amaze you by growing in the most awkward of places and even in the harshest of enviroments like your photo wich is great, i once found a walnut tree growind out of a london plane tree 85ft up must have been a squirrels stash that he or she forgot

That's determination for you!

I'm like you - I don't like non-native conifers, but I admire the hardiness of what grows here naturally.
