winter foraging

living near the sea is great for winter foraging, i had a walk along the shore line near saltburn its great there when the tides out you can walk near the cliffs and collect mussels, winkles and limpets the rockpools are teaming with life, another great thing is as you look above you the cliffs tower over 100ft high and are alive with nesting birds, the mornings walk was lovely and its been productive iv'e got a couple of pints of fresh seafood for my tea yum !

I often look at the abundance of mussels n stuff on the beaches by Sunny Dunny. Am not so keen on eating them though - I have it in my head that the Forth is full of crap (townie, Edinburgh crap at that) and of course mussels being filter feeders are full of that crap.
Pity though!

oh you so lucky... I am getting forageing withdrawl... as there is nothing around in the woods... other than fungi and I am not confident enough for that... AND ... I love seafood, but have to pay for it. Enjoy...

Young nettles are beginning to grow in sheltered places now so might search out my gloves and pick some for nettle soup
