Mould

I have a fair sized date palm in a tub that I wrapped with fleece to protect from the frost. I checked it today and its gone mouldy - im gutted! The middle leaves (obviously from where it shoots new leaves) have a white and pink mould everywhere and the other leaves have brown spots. does anyone know if this is ruined or if it will conitnue to grow OK if I remove the mould? And with what can I remove the mould?
