What to do with all the Christmas Cards?

We get a lot of cards from having a large extended family and a farm business. A few of the cards I really like the cover (I love a good snowman!) and would like to find some type of craft to save them and make them into something to enjoy again next year. Any ideas?
And anything I can do with the rest? Craftwise?

gift boxes - the square ones are best for this but you can cut the others down

and i cut out parts for gift tags
the rest go on the fire.

People who make their own cards will often snap up old cards as they cut them up and re-use them. Ask around to see if you know anyone who makes their own.

I reuse bits I like for next year's cards.

Gift tags and new cards next year. I also cut out cards and stick them on presents that are wrapped in plain paper.
Those I can't used are recycled.
As a child I used to copy cards onto a large piece of paper that was always hung up in the kitchen as part of the decorations

i make my own cards with last years card...easy to do
use a fine watercolour paper...but plain card is good...cut to double the size of the envelope you are using....cut out the old pic....attach...and add other bits and pieces.
Here was a penguin that i cut out...cut round the arms and slotted in a parcel...paper hat was wrapping paper....and a sticker bauble attached to the hat! stuck the penguin on a glittery back ground before i put it on the card! easy!

Thanks for the great ideas? I was wondering how exactly to re-use them. Please share more ideas if you have any!
Thanks! :)

I just had an idea after reading this thread, what about cutting up a card into strips and then weaving them and sticking them on another piece of card.
To make it a bit more cheeky you could make a weaving of a card and send it to the person who sent you the card!
I may do that next year actually!

A lady I knew in the Netherlands once did something rather novel with Christmas cards. She sent back to everyone the cards they'd sent her the previous year!!! It was a tad confusing at first until I read the note she'd added explaining her recycling idea, but very clever and different!

Fantastic! Did she cut them up and make them into new cards? Or just cross out the names?!

No, she just sent the whole card back and wrote her wishes under the wishes I'd written to her previously!
