Two weeks ago we picked up a boar and a gilt. We will use them for breeding and raise the piglets for meat for ourselves and family (and will sell a few also). They are Guinea Hogs (a rare heritage breed here in the US), and weigh about 50 pounds here at 7 months old.

Introducing Seymour:

And Harriet:

So far it is still fun every day to care for them, they're both characters, and it is entertaining to listen to them eat and talk to eachother. Harriet is not fond of the dogs bugging her thru the fence, so far that has been the only negative thing, and one we can work with. :cooldude:

Hi, Love the pigs. I haven't heard of these before - don't think we have them in Australia at all. We breed Berkshire and Berkshire/Duroc crosses for our own meat. Husband and youngest son usually do the dispatching and processing - I am more the caregiver
 Anyway good luck and look forward to hearing more about your adventures.
