online courses

anyone got any experience of online courses for self-suff stuff:
i'm considering doing this - well, not all of it, too expensive.

I've seen their stuff around for years, but never taken any of their courses due to lack of accreditation and cost!

Whilst it lloks interesting, isn't it expensive (not sure what an Australian dollar is worth in relation to the UK pound)? Wouldn't you be better just ploughing your way through some of the books that are available, or doing the odd permaculture course? I am assuming this is for your own benefit rather than because you want a qualification for employment - would any employer take this seriously? (I am not saying they shouldn't, just that I don't think many of them would know what to make of a diploma in selfsufficiency).
The topics do sound really interesting, though. Sorry - I don't think this has been a very helpful response!!
