turks turban squashes

I have planted lots of marrows, squashes and pumpkins because I enjoyed them so much last year. I made marrow and ginger jam and pumpkin soup and had squashes all winter. Last year I had just got my allotment so these veggies were given to me by the other plotties who had too many.
This year I planted butternut squash, some other squashes, marrows and pumpkins.....only the turks turban have grown and there are about 30 fruits. So I have 2 problems.....can I eat turks turban squashes or are they purely decorative as I think they are and ...why haven't my others grown....they look healthy, there are flowers but no fruit ...and the seeds came from the organic gardening catalogue ????? thanks
