So i've been out looking for chestnuts as last year i left it too late.
The cheastnuts i have found are not completely brown inside, almost white. Is it too early or just a bad year?

Chestnuts should go brown once they are left in air. It does mean that they're a little early, as the casing hasn't started to open and let the air in.

Chestnuts are commonly biennial bearers, which means that every other year they either don't bear or the nuts don't ripen properly. Try a different tree - and then this might help...
