Sloe's What can you do with them apart from make gin?

After you've taken them out of the gin put a couple in an ice cube tray, pour on melted fair trade chocolate, then chill. Don't usually like liquers but these were amazing.
Last year I dried some. They're still in a tupperware in the cupboard

I'll try them tonight and let you know what they're like on Monday.

OH does not drink.. so seems a shame for all the sloes to end up in booze.... so I make sloe jelly or apple and sloe jam

Crab apple and sloe jelly is very tasty (like jam, but strained) ... think I've go a recipe somewhere, I'll see if I can find it.

I have a handful on my stove as we speak, along with blackberries, nectarine, apple and a plum. Plus some water and a little gin they're going to be a compote.

Well I went to my cupboard... and it turned out the dried sloes were actually.... dried elderberries. Sorry folks. I ate them anyway and don't have a jippy tummy so they must have been okay. They were still quite trong in flavour, you could tell what they were, a little tart though. The texture was good, slightly chewey, they're deffinately a good dried fruit to make.
