I have been making a nightly patrol to collect slugs for months now, tonight the pumpkin plant ( normally subjected to a withering attack of slugs from the long grass and hedge) is completly free of slugs, and none anywhere near it. However there is a family of fat toads there now. 3 of them, being my best mates and patroling the perimieter of the pumkin and presumably consuming the problem for me

My tip for getting rid of slugs , attract a toad, or preferably 3 of them.

That's great! It is wonderful when things like that happen.

I have a real glut of toads, lift virtually any stone and there is one nestling beneath it ... I'll ask them if they'd like to relocate if anyone would like :)

the problem is we have lots of newts and toads.... *because* we have lots of slugs..

I'll offer a garden with a small pond and plenty o big fat slugs for a toad! In fact, i have a great green house that he can spend his nights in - its unheated and there's plenty of dark spaces - and a massive great fat juicy slug (it must be by now considering how much its eaten!) that keeps hiding from me!

We've just installed a pond on our lottie & are in the process of researching the best way to attract toads, which we know are on the site, to our plot.

I know toads only require the pond for breeding, so we need to create some nice dark places for them. There are certainly plenty of slugs...
