Pullets laying eggs

My seventeen weeks old pullets have started laying. Not all six, but two of them. The first day there was one egg, the second day there were two, and yesterday there was one. They are small. Not tried them yet.
It is the start of winter, so I was pleasantly surprised to see them. It might mean that they will be good layers. Here's hoping.

That's young, isn't it? A nice surprise though! Happy eating.

Be thankful you're getting any eggs! Of our 40 hens, only 2 are laying, and they are banties, so the eggs are quite small). Sigh.... They didn't do this last year, they only took a 2 week break and then started laying again. They've been off lay for nearly 2 months now! I blame the screwy weather...

Yep, a friend of mine is getting an egg a day from her two pullets, even with our long cold nights! She is very pleasantly surprised too.

He he that reminds me of a great book I reafd not long ago - "The Pullet Surprise"
