101 things that make life amazing

ok we have had the pet hates so thought it would be good to have things that make life amazing.
1. Selfsufficientish (of course

)
2,3 and 4. The obvious like friends and family and getting your first crop of the year.
5. Not so obvious - being called a good man by someone that really means it.
6. emails from old friends

8. The smell of fresh rainfall
9. The way my dog says hello when i get in from work!

10. Sitting in my garden in the sunshine listening to the birds and watching the poplars in the breeze
11. Sitting inside when it's really stormy watching the poplars dancing in the wind
12. Curling up by the fire with a good book and a cat on my lap.

13. The way my baby girl looks at me first thing in the morning - then eyes quickly dart downwards to look where the milk´s coming from!(loved-up mama

14. The fact that a garden always gives back three times what you put into it.
15. A gift of flowers from a complete stranger. Last week, when I was in one of Hobart's main streets, a somewhat scruffy elderly gentleman walked up to me, handed me a bunch of orchids, then vanished back into the crowded street.

I've often thought of doing the same thing, but I know it would only fetch me a beating from Mrs Wombat

sunsets and sunrises
seeing a shooting star
early morning frost on a clear sunny day (unless its a late one and will ruin your plants!)
feeling part of the local community.
when my son learns something he has had difficulty with for a long time, his triumphant face!
the colour of autumn
being witness to something special no one else sees.. like fox cubs playing or badgers out on the river bank...
coming in wet cold and tired to a log fire.

31,. The huge bright double rainbow over our valley yesterday. Possibly the most clearly coloured I have ever seen!
32. When your stepfather turns up with piping to get water to your plot and save you an hour of carrying buckets!
33. New jobs that give you the weekends and evenings free! From June, I shall be a mad evening/weekend gardening person!
34. Friends who take you to the rugby final, where your team is playing

40 - the age I just hit, the fact that I've got here in one piece and that I still feel 20-something

Germination. You just add water to these iddy-biddy seeds and get whole new plants. Amazing.
The seasons. Just when you're getting bored of the cold, along comes Spring. Then, when you need to cool down after a hot Summer, there's Autumn just around the corner.
The stars. Nuff said.
