my pea plants have little notches cut out of the leaves.. and my 'expert' book tells me this is the pea and bean weevil. it then tells me which poison to use - (is this cos my expert book is old or are they all like that?)
anyway, assuming i am not going to chuck a chemical down.. any advice on how to get rid/make my plants survive?
honestly between slugs and snails, cockchafer, cabbage whites, aphids , jackdaws, pidgeons and now weevils.. i dunno if i will grow anything!

We get notched leaves each year.
we find that provided the plant is already pretty sturdy, they don't affect the pods at all.
we don't use any chemical at all either.
think of it as sharing the bounty

well i start my peas in modules - as the slugs demolish any prouting from the ground - and I can control slugs more in th gh. also we have mice and pidgeons around too... sigh...
i have been planting out when the peas have started to stick out their grabber arms. hope.. they are big enough to share!

The wevil war begins.... (maybe I should turn this into a book).
Anyhow, just been out and checked on the peas, got 5 of the little blighters. they are hard to spot, and harder still when they drop to the ground, which they seem to do at the slightest hint of trouble. will pop out later with a sheet of paper, I'll not be out smarted by an insect (well, if I am I'll not admit it, its nearly the same thing). I checked last night when I did the slug patrol (I out to get a life really, nothing then so I am thinking that these are maybe a dusk thing, I'll see as time progresses.
