I've started my beekeeping course, and I am completely awed by that little insect! our first session was on the anatomy of bees and it blew me away, such complex critters and a complex social organisation too. Workers develop from fertilized eggs, drones from unfertilized absolutly amazing! a new respect for the bees, I have an awful feeling I could get into bees as much as my poultry- I haven't told the other half yet but I am making enquiries into making a hive, but shhh thats between us, yes...
kind thoughts

I got a gardening book via ebay at the weekend and it has a small chapter about bee-keeping. I must admit it looks like excellent fun, especially if you like honey. However my garden isn't big enough for a hive (needs to be about 30 feet from the house) and I am not sure my neighbours would be too happy. But it is definitely a future project.
