Todays reports suggestthat car firms are going to have to cut co2 emmisions by 18% by 2012.

It seems to that this will probally happen anyway and it is just another wishy washy leglislation that really does not do much for the environment and more for future votes perhaps?

I think that a decenty public transport system is the key to cutting emmisions. If we had a better rail network and more frieght on it this country could make decent steps towards reducing carbon emissions.

A true political will from the current government to actually provide a workable alternative to fossil fuels would be a good start, as opposed to just slapping tax on everything in a half hearted attempt to lower consumption.
