We went on our first forage of the year today. Got some lovely baby nettles for nettle tea and had a dandelion and chickweed salad with our dinner - wonderful! Nature surely is an amazing thing!

Yup we were amazed at just how early everything was! There were new shoots on the trees too. Suppose thats what you get for having a mild winter! Mind you, not that we are complaining, our salad was yummy last night!

There's loads about if you know what to look for. Today's salad mix was dandelion, hairy bittercress, wood sorrel, sea beet, sea purslane, mallow, chickweed & rosebay willowherb.
All fresh young growth and very tasty.

I went out looking for nettles the other day and there were precious few around so well done! I also saw a greenfly, really should not have been about at this time of year.

How wonderful to hear that other people get excited about nettles and other goodies

I loved that 'full' feeling I get when I eat wildfood briming with nutrients!

P.S. Andy... I have surprisingly seen plenty of aphids over the past couple of months.
