Some of us will have already heard of peak oil, others will even know what it's all about, but others may not have heard of it at all and think that it's just another oil supply company.

This website is definitely worth looking at - Wolf At The Door
For years, the experts have been warning of the dangers of oil depletion. They have been accused of crying wolf. This time, the wolf really is at the door.

The Real Danger
Everyday in the news, we hear of the threat of climate change. There are international conferences, television documentaries, books galore. Leaders meet regularly to discuss the issues and define programs. Yet, while climate change is undoubtedly a serious problem, the most dangerous aspects are not likely to threaten us for several decades and even then will be ambiguous in their results, bringing hazards for many, benefits for some, and little effect for a few.

But there is a danger whose consequences will be far more destructive and which will hit us much sooner. It is a danger that will effect everybody, rich or poor, wherever they live in the world. It will require enormous financial and scientific strides to defeat, strides which the world’s governments show few signs of taking. It is a danger which, quite feasibly, could lead to the end of our industrial civilisation. It is the danger of peak oil.

The day will come, I'm sure - but no bugger wants to hear about it or listen or DO ANYTHING about it now, it seems!

Right now, here in Brissy we're on Level 4 or 5 (I've honestly lost count now) water restrictions - yet you can still go for a walk in the afternoon to see some mongrel hiding around the corner of the house, watering their lawn with the hose!!! And the thing that peeves me the most is that those people are the ones who will whinge the most when there's NO water.... like they've been innocent and it's someone else's fault.... *fuming about the whole issue*

Stepping off my soap box now. I'm a bit fiery on that subject!

Isn't it about time the government encouraged us to use vegetable oil or alcohol in our engines, or am I being very nieve?

using recycled vegetable oil is an excellent idea, but there isn't a lot of it!
What worries me is that companies like Toyota are pouring money into the Biotech and GM industries with a view to producing GM fuel oil crops................. :? (which to my mind is an horrific scenario!)

That is why i sold up and moved to a farm in ireland.
With the aim of 100% self suffuciency in the medium term.

Mark.

PS Do a dot2dot between all the countries in the axis of evil.
See who it seperates from the oil in the saudi / middle east.
