Hi all,

i need your help.

I'm moving to Berlin, Germany to study. I'm gonna miss my herbs and flowers. I have never lived in Europe long enough and my tropical experience wont be so useful in Berlin. I will arrive mid Sept. Would anyone be kind enough to advice what to grow then, please. I will have a pot and hanging garden only. Grandpa got a garden in Poland but it's not Shengen State so i cant go there yet.

Many thanx

Trang

most herbs you can grow all year round. Some such as basil you might struggle with as it need quite a high temperature to germinate. Saying that though if you are germinating them indoors you should be fine.

I have had parsley, mint, rue and corriander throughout the winter months and they have all been fine. You will have to watch out for frost - but the beauty of container gardening is that it is easy to bring in the plants when the weather is cold.

Do you have a lot of windowsill space? I would be tempted to grow a few window boxes of herbs and flowers and keep them indoors all the time.
