That's rather odd. Sheet glass is definitely recyclable here, although you do have to go to one of the larger council recycling centres rather than the village bottle bank type centre.

I'll see if I can get in touch with any local glassblowers. I am in the Potteries, so there's plenty of that sort of thing going on...
