Leg shave cat

There's a stranger cat that comes into my house - I don't know anything about it except it's usually very hungry. I thought it was neglected or a stray, but today I saw it had a small shaved patch on its front right shin. I'm assuming a vet has done this and my question is simply, is that area shaved for a particular type of (presumably) injection?

Never seen a shaved patch for anything other than surgical interventions - like spaying.

If it is being cared for by someone else I'd discourage feeding it.

Some places have neuter and release schemes, especially where there may be colonies of feral cats, they are trapped spayed or castrated and then taken back to the outdoor place they came from

Hi
Every time one of my cats has had an operation of any sort, they've had a shaved leg. I think it's where they put the anaesthetic.
