they also give money to charity, one of them is grocers who have fallen on hard times. To me it is like the big bad wolf giving money to old ladies who have been eaten by wolves

the other thing that would concern me is that people who previously might have bought from ecover may switch due to a (no doubt) lower price. So they'll push a smaller company like ecover out of the market. Not good news really. I'd heard this is a concern for own make organics too, although not sure if true. So I always try to buy from an established orgainc company if I can, like Seeds of Change. Like I say not sure if this is true or not.

I think I'll stick to what I normally buy/make.

I agree Kirsty, the T***o blurb says their range will be 20% cheaper than existing products. I hate T***o so much !! Grrr !

i've spent months convincing my mother that buying Ecover is better, and that whilst she may enjoy polluting the planet so that her clothes smell good, and the toilet smells clean, i'd rather stick with soapy smells and keep the planet nice...

And T***o do this!!

they give me less reasons every day to shop there...

haha, i looked in the garage last night...it seems that the ecover rants are getting through! She bought me some washing powder...maybe its the soapnuts she'll object to next!!

conversely - if Ecover are the only producers - then the prices will stay high and this will put off people who are skint. I see what you are saying.. but I am sure more affordable green products will see more converts. Be interesting to see what products they bring out.

There are other producers - can't remember the names just now, but where I mostly buy my stuff, there are other products on the shelf, too. Ecover did always seem to be the cheapest on that range, though.

I currently use a detergent called Bio-D which I get from the local organic market. It is noticeably better than Ecover at doing the dishes, but not good for spraying aphids with - plants blacken and curl up.

Bio-D soap powder also clumps in the washing machine drawer...

I'm almost out of ecover washing up liquid... time to try that recipe that Luath posted to make your own :)
