I sent this to google the other day -

I don't drive for environmental reasons and there are a growing number of
people like me. Is it possible to have the directions to and from for
walkers? I am sure that it would give you some excellent publicity in the
"green" climate of thought in Britain today. I expect that it is a huge
task to get that amount of data though, perhaps one that could be done by
the world?

This is the reply that I got -

Thank you for your note. We apologize for our delayed response. We
appreciate your thoughtful feedback regarding walking directions, and
we'll keep it in mind as we continue to develop Google Maps.

Could be a pretty standard one but they have never replied to me before so sounds pretty positive we shall see. - Although they don't seem to have realised that I am in the UK with the little ad for themselves at the end.

Well its a start I suppose, if a few more of us wrote we might get some where.

That was two years ago, I can't have been the only one. If you log onto google maps now it comes with walking directions!!!

and it gave me bus info the other day too!
