Local media seem to have to be spoonfed these days.. provide them with the story and images and it might get run.

Facebook pages need a bit of pimping.. if everyone involved advertises the event FB page in their signature on *every* forum they are on (not just the self-sufficiency/allotment ones) that should get a bit of coverage, a few more clicks and likes. Local event and information websites are often desperate for something to report that's new/current. Make an "announcement" every couple of days (it has to be something different every time - how about some descriptions of local heritage apple varieties? - maybe invent the fictitious Louth Lout cider apple and start a quest to find a specimen of this long lost variety..) and share each one with the local newspaper's FB page.
