Unlike yesterday I remembered all the bits and pieces that prevented my from completing this job yesterday (spade, jar of screws..). The first row of the allotment vineyard is now planted (Müller-Thurgau), just the training wires to be installed.

Me too! I've got Pino Noir and Polo Muscat. I'm not doing mine in raised beds though. I've got 6 good sized bunches on the Polo Muscat at home. Happy days!

The site is a little low lying, they're planted on the dry side of the plot but the raised bed will hopefully give that little bit more drainage. It will also contain a thick woodchip mulch.

I'm not sure what "make" my three year old vine is, but I should think there's about 180-200 bunches of grapes on it. I planted it on the corner of a house and it goes both ways from the corner, though the larger branches go off towards the western end of the house. It has the possibility of growing along three houses and has just started along the second one now. The grapes are white and so sweet when ripe. I don't know what I should do with them so previous years have just eaten them, not knowing much about whether they'd make good wine or not.

I'm jealous!! Got to have a go at that. I have masses of autumn raspberries and make wine from them but a grape vine? why didn't I think of that! pbf.
