I just have to announce the birth of our first ever baby llama..........It was all a bit traumatic and interfered with my attempts to get rid of that damn margo icon.........but he's 2wks and a day today and weighed in at 28lbs or 13k at birth his name's eric and I'd love to pop a pic up but don't know how?

Congratulations!
I'm glad all went well after all. Wait and see - when you've had your 20th llama baby you'll stay cool throughout - but the delight at the end will be the same!

Ina are you a llama person? I'm trying to connect with other llama people to discuss birth issues because I've had so many problems...and I don't think it's my livestock care and neither does my vet although I do question myself and wonder if I'm just getting something horribly wrong. It wasn't my first...but it was the first that survived.........and it didn't all go well either...but the end result is fantastic.

Unfortunately not! One of the institutes in Aberdeen used to have a large llama herd, though - don't know whether they still have. My computer is on the slow-go again and refuses to open certain websites...
Try this:
www.rowett.ac.uk/llamas
I also know somebody who used to work with llamas and had one herself, so if you have specific questions I'd pass them on to her, in the hope she'd be willing to help!

Wow - you've got a couple now! Well, the survival of the species seems secured.
Anyway, here are two more addresses that might be useful - you might, of course, have already tried them:
http://www.llama.co.uk/orgs.htm
http://www.alpagas-lamas-france.info/
All the best for the little ones!

Congrats Garlic! Baby llamas are something else!
There's a guy in France who posts on Equine Online and Total France who has a herd of llamas. PM me if you want to know his name and you can contact him through those forums.

Thanks for the links Ina...I'm actually a British Camelids member so must get in touch with them.....and i've been meaning to join the French gang but there website doesn't tell you how and then I get scared of querying in French...fool I know and I'll get over it.
Millymolly thanks as well...is he the guy who breeds big horses? If so I've had contact with him and have been meaning to pm him via totalfrance...If it's the same guy he started a llama forum but it seems to have got lost somewhere
Update: Both our little uns are looking good and happily playing together I'll get a pic of the new one soon

Yes, he's the guy with the heavy horses! I think I saw you posting on there recently anyway but I wasn't sure if you knew about that site.
Glad your babies are doing fine!
