OK, I'm biased 'coz I was one, but this it truly a natty bit of science: windows that change the amount of light / heat they transmit based on the temperature outside so reducing energy spent on heating or cooling the building. These have existed for a while, but the clever thing about the new ones is that they do it automatically.

Yep - I have to agree. I was pretty impressed with the single molecule electric motor too.
But the REALLY fascinating thing is those "faster-than-light" particles which, if they're not an error, should bring us some very interesting times.

In a way - but these respond to temperature, not light intensity.
