All my quail seem to have a fear and hatred of the colour purple.
I try and remember not to wear this colour when I go near them but when I forget or someone else does they fly about manically panicing.
Has anyone else had this problem or do I have strange quail? No other colour seems to effect them - so far!!
Does anyone know of any reson why this is so?!

i once wore my stash bursting many coloured jumper when seeing to the turkeys and one went for me... i think it thought i was some giant hippy peacock and felt all territorial...

I think chickens have a thing about red - or maybe is that cos we always take their treats to them in a red bowl - anyway my SIL went in their run in sandals with red nail polish and they pecked her toes!!!

Edit - I mean red the colour, not red the member above.

thats why chickens a) peck others if they are bleeding or have red skin and
b) chick feeders and drinkers are usually red!

its to do with what parts of the spectrum they can see most clearly....

Havr stopped wearing purple when I go near them-unless on the days I forget being a woman of a certain age!!! and all seems quiet again !
