How do i find a decent co-housing project / eco-village?

I'm interested in co-housing or living in an eco-village but scared of cohabiting with anyone too fanatical or finding the place a bit like a religious sect. Anyone know of any good places or direct me to some websites that may be of use. Overseas ideally, but preferably not too far away. Thanks.

don“t know if they do have eco-villages, but have a look at
http://www.helpex.net , or wwoof.org . It may give you somewhere to start from!
The first may be better as wide variety of types of places, whereas wwoof, is just ( meant to be ) organic farms......
and apart from that the helpex site allows you to see quiteabit more info on each place before joining

You could also look at Diggers and Dreamers
