I get that sometimes when I try to edit stuff just after I have posted. Obviously we just have very nimble fingers!

yeah - i get that too - irritating...
once got it when I tried to edit a post... spotted the mistake as soon as i had posted... editing a post isn't making a new one...
I imagine it's to stop the computer spammers from wrecking our lovely community here so in that respect it's a small price to pay

I'm so sorry peeps - it's your nimble fingers and broadband! - there's a built-in "hang on a tick" thing for swift posters - as Shirlz said, it's all part of the anti-spam measures!
