hey,
picked a bunch of what i am quite sure is wood sorrel today, for salad. as i am a newbie i am wondering if there is anything bad that it can be confused with - i tasted some, it has that lemony-appley taste, three heart-shaped leaves, little white flowers. pretty sure but i dont want to eat a whole load of it if there is something very similar but poisonous out there!

Wood sorrel around here has yellow flowers, and the leaves are somewhat pale compared to other nearby plants, but other than that it sounds right. Double-check with someone in your region (where are you?)
Even if you got the right plant, I wouldn't suggest eating loads of it at a time. Too much at once can cause digestive upset. But it's a tasty addition to other greens.

well i ate it and i'm still here. very nice it was too, gave a good tang to the salad. i google-imaged it and there were plenty of examples of white-flowered wood sorrel as well as the yellow kind (i'm near glasgow).
thanks for replying :)

Errrggghhh I have this, both the red and green forums of the creeping variety:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&biw= ... 1&aql=&oq=
and it has invaded every plant pot of perennials I have i.e. geraniums and oleander. It's also a serious weed of my flower beds and because of its tenacious roots and creeping habit it's impossible to get rid of.
I hate it with a vengeance.
