Monty Don back on BBC's Gardeners' World

Just noticed that Gardeners' World starts again this evening on BBC2 and was pleased to see Monty Don is back at the helm. I wasn't too keen on the last chap, Toby although of course he is probably a very good gardener. i wish him well in his next venture.

i have enjoyed GW for many years, since the days of Percy Thrower and Arthur Billit. I remember seeing the soil at Arthur's Clacks Farm and thinking how good it was compared to my thick heavy, waterlogged clay.

Liked Geoffrey Smith, Peter Seabrook and Christine who also appeared on the programme.

Must go ... it has just started !!

Much better show, a real garden, real people, simple and real tasks. Dead jealous of Montys' big garden and outbuildings

Wow his garden makes Carol Klein's look tiddly - how on earth do they manage to look after so much land/garden. Yeah I know these gardeners employ gardeners! Loved the show and how nice it was to get back to more the 'old' format instead of the way it has gone over the last few years. Just gardening and less of the silly chatting stuff.

Didn't you notice in his tool shed there was a line of about 8 secateurs hanging on the wall, together with several croppers.
I agree that the show is back where it should be, real life gardening and not namby pamby, aren't I clever, look at me I'm a celebrity tosh.

Oh yes, my immediate comment was why does he need so many secateurs but that was to the man who has a similar garage and workshop/barn with everything hanging neatly in a row like that......

So glad that Monty is back, we'd stopped watching GW over the last couple of years as couldn't take to Toby.

Much better having it filmed in an actual garden and what a garden it is.

As well as the secateurs there was also a row of sieves, or are they riddles.

I have one and make do with it ... suppose each has a different gauge, for different levels of fineness.

Was very impressed by the garden, like many folk have already commented upon.
