hello there ,

I read the news today , and the last three weeks , and oh boy ,
by the end of February the oil prices , and so the petrol prices will peak big time , just watch ,
Brent oil is allready on a high , just watch the antics of the Arabs (so called cry for democracy ),
rocket the prices up . Iranian ships in the Suez , another 10 dollar the barrel ,

regards ,

Paul
p.s even if the prices triple , I'll still fill up with a smile

Knock on effect to food prices will be the more interesting and inflamitory event though I suspect.

Plant more spuds! $200 per barrel this year, I fear.

I suppose one should get about 150 kg in a standard barrel, so that 67 cents a kilo. Doesn't sound too bad...

I'm growing more this year - taking another 60 square metres under spuds. Should add about 120kg, if I'm careful.

The only problem is, without oil there would be no Internet for you to post your comments on.

I think we sometimes forget just how many items are made from oil. Just google items made from oil and am quite sure you will be surprised.

What worries me is how much fertiliser is made from oil. Oh, and all the drugs (can't spell pharmawotsicals, regulars will remember I can't spell)

Welcome back QB! Pharmacuticals (sp????) shouldn't be a huge problem. It's small volume stuff and there are many other paths to make drugs. Industrial fertilisers on the other hand... possible without oil, yes. Possible without a lot of energy? No.

On a positive note the short term future could be an oportunity for tranistion movements to show their value, flourish and spread. I hope so.
