Hi guys, some of you may remember me from a while back. My time for the last three years has been taken up by trying to get Allotments in Ashbourne, Derbyshire. Well, although I gave up on the committee a few months back, we are about to be up an running - we can all start on our plots (100 x 100sqm plots) in a little over a week.

As you can imagine we are all thrilled and now I cannot sleep - I am just so excited. Just wanted you guys to know that if you don't have allotments - you can make it work.

Good luck - recently gave up my allotment after 20 odd years on moving to Cyprus - It was quite emotional after a period you feel quite attached to a piece of ground

Good luck to you Tigerhair. We're coming up to our third growing season on a new allotment site at the other end of Derbyshire from you - near Glossop. It 'll be hard work but it is worth it.

Hi MMM

It was nice to come back on and see you guys still here  Made me feel all warm and slighty gooey inside  That might be coz I'm nuts though

Yep, I am SO excited I can barely sleep. I have many plans and yesterday my little boy took a plan into school for show and tell to show all his friends his part of the allotment and his plans for it (new pots, radishes and flowers)!

MMM About half of the plots are taking shape... ours has a shed, two compost bins, my son's raised bed is dug and ready, the fruit is planted, one of the 8x2m beds is completely done, another half done and the last one untouched as yet. Yesterday we had to go up and re-felt the shed because the high winds tore it off!!! I have started some seeds in my greenhouse. We are aiming to do as much successional planting as possible. I am so caught up in it - I was even disappointed when yesterday I had to do some gardening at home LOL I just want to get all the beds ready so I can warm them up. Needless to say, the potatos are also chitting. The thing I am enjoying hugely that I didn't recon on is the team spirit and helpfulness and friendships that are already forming up there. It's so fantastic - all of it! I ache like MAD though - me old bones aren't up to this!!!
