Has anyone actually tried preserving eggs in waterglass?

(I read the thread on here from 2007 on the topic but it didn't seem to contain any experiences).

My chooks haven't laid since November, and I am wondering if I should have planned ahead and stored a surplus.
Having said which it might be cheaper just to buy them in from the supermarket - this waterglass stuff aint cheap http://www.mistralni.co.uk/details.php? ... fAodaA2KKg or can you re-use it forever?

Hi there, when I had less hens I regularly "put down" the spring/ early summer surplus eggs in waterglass. Mostly the last of these stored eggs were used up round Christmas time with all the extra baking, and usually my girls are laying buy early Jan

Always select clean dry eggs, and don't put them in the waterglass until they are fully cooled down, and keep the jar in a cool dry atmosphere, preferably cover with a lid.

I wouldn't want a stored egg boiled, and probably wouldn't bother with one fried, but they are good for cakes and general cooking

Eggs will usually store for many weeks in the fridge, just break them into a saucer before using to check all is OK (as with the stored eggs above).
