Similar problem,Cant prove it,but I think that making olive oil a central ingredient in all our cookery, has meant that I still have the ability to walk without a stick most days.Following the original accident,I was told that i should be grateful to still be a biped, and prepare long term for a chair,17 yrs on,I can walk 4or 5 miles(much further in warmth.)Not exactly Lazurus, but I reckon the oil has helped a lot.

I've heard that a teaspoon of cider vinegar a day is a help. I make no claim about it, simply hearsay. It's just another thing to try and won't do any harm.

This strikes a chord with me.
Several years ago I had hip problems with arthritis and also exactly the same with my shoulders. We use olive oil for all cooking now plus I also take a cod liver oil capsule once a day and to be honest the hip problem has disappeared totally.
I do still get shoulder pain from time to time, but that is usually when I've abused it during the day and go to sleep at night with my arms behind my head ... a fatal combination.

I'm sure I've soon some sort of recipe for a rubbing oil, it had stuff like powdered mustard in it though. I will look for it if you want.

Honey and apple cider vinegar drink, does seem to help.
(reminder to self..start taking it again!..now that there is some honey in the house!)
just pour boiling waterover dessert spoon off honey, stir well and add couple teaspoons vinegar.
horrible taste first few times, but I soon got to like it
( best to brush teeth afterwards tho)
seems to energise you as well.
If it is arthritis, this might be worth you having a look at

Ok it is commercial. but some free stuff too. and some free recipes for healing foods...... via alinked site, and enails.
apparently broccoli is superb, anti-inflammatory and helps cartilage regrowth.

The Top Twelve Arthritis HealingFoods are:
Broccoli, Onions, Berries, Pineapple, Yogurt, Brazil Nuts, Flaxseeds, Spinach, Omega-3 Seafood, Winter Squash, Olive Oil, and the miraculous Bone Broth.
and somewhere there“s also some lists of what to avoid.. but i cant find that at present!

My Mother Outlaw has arthiritis, and swears by the Glucosamine; but I know a few other people that swear by a seaweed extract that you can get in most Health food shops. Wish I could remember what it's called, though.
Bone broth. Yum. Apparently I was weaned on that. It was a standing joke when I (briefly) became a vegan in my teens....

Broccoli is brilliant! I think it's the high calcium that's the key. It's at its best when you use the as much of the growth as possible, including stem. Soup, when liquidised, is probably most appropriate for it.
Most leafy green veggies are excellent in the calcium department but watch the spinach, which is high in oxalates (as is rhubarb). There again, when taken with a source of vitamin C, spinach is a great for iron...

My knees are getting creaky and painful (always before it rains weirdly enough) - I do have a balanced diet but I'm taking into consideration all of the other stuff suggested too before it gets worse.
