Made some the other day and wrote about on the
guaridan blog. What I should have mentioned is just how quickly the vodka takes on the horseradish, it seems in just a matter of minutes the vodka changes flavour is quite amazing!

You, my friend, are a glutton for punishment. I've had horseradish vodka.
Certainly clears your sinuses, doesn't it?

Something akin to snorting wasabi i would guess? not sure I want a repeat of that . . . still infuse it with elderflower too and you would kill ALL colds and flues!

It does have a kick yes, but not as strong as my 50 chillies thrown into vodka then left for 3 months. We now use that as an initiation into our brew club. No-one has managed to drink more than half a shot!

Many years back when I was courting my first wife in East London; her mother told me that a family was processing and selling grated horse radish in Rathbone Street Market. Over three generations eventually all of them went blind, due to the toxic nature of horse radish..... be warned; do not get it near to your eyes and wash hands after touching or cutting it.

I made some at the weekend and was rather surprised! The honey takes the edge off the horseradish - Definitely going to be repeating this one.
What do people do to make their chilly vodka - Just mix? We've some very hot paprika here in Hungary and a vodka from that would be awesome!

Wow, that sounds fatastic! Not so keen on going blind though
When I did chilli vodka, I just put one cayenne into 250ml of vodka and within 2 months it was enough to have a nice taste and just enough kick to be warming. I'm attempting to grow naja jalokia (over a million SHU) this year so that's going to make some fiery vodka for christmas

May a curious pepper-lover ask where you obtained the Naja Jalokia seeds?
I want to have a go at those this spring

They were at my local garden centre, but I have to say, day 14 is nearing and no shoots appearing so far. There were only 8 in the packet which unnerves me as a beginner!

Ah,I'll just have to keep my eyes open for them.
...Only 8 seeds? That sounds pretty expensive.
But it is the

of peppers after all.

Er yes, yes it is. Essentially you are making a tincuture of chilli. Might try a lesser brew later in the year when I have some chillis. Had a couple more victims, sorry I means tasters last weekend. "What odd drinks do you have", was the question so horseradish vodka as a warm up then some chilli vodka.
